I am an assistant professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Previously, I was on the faculty at DePaul University in Chicago, and I also have worked for a number of media organizations and online services, including washingtonpost.com, cars.com, CNN Interactive, Edmunds, Brittanica.com, WSUI-AM, The Journal of Communication Inquiry and The Chronicle of Higher Education. In 2007, my book, Instant Identity: Adolescent Girls and the World of Instant Messaging was published by Peter Lang Publishing in New York.
